Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design » Sidetrack

The Sidetrack table peripherally records you as you work in the home, tracing a pattern as you move from space to space. Marker pens plot this pattern as the table spins, oscillating in time with your movement between rooms. Sensors are placed in the areas you want to observe, for example the desk or the kitchen. By placing tags on the table, you purposefully work towards set tasks, with the patterns reflecting the journey towards these objectives. In this way, giving value to the intangible effort and pockets of time you devote whilst working from home.

Drives & Controls :: News :: Technology news :: Wireless sensor tags create an `instrumentation cloud`

A US company has developed a wireless sensor card that introduces a new concept for performing measurement and analysis, known as the “instrumentation cloud”. Cores Electronic’s Tag4M WiFi sensor tag no longer relies on software running on a specific PC. Instead, it transmits data the Internet and uses Web pages as “instruments” that can be accessed by any device that that can surf the Web, including mobile phones.

Edward Ihnatowicz was a Cybernetic Sculptor active in the late 1960's and early 1970's. His ground-breaking sculptures explored the interaction between his robotic works and the audience, and reached their height with The Senster, a large (15 feet long), hydraulic robot commissioned by the electronics giant, Philips, for their permanent showplace, the Evoluon, in Eindhoven in 1970. The sculpture used sound and movement sensors to react to the behaviour of the visitors. It was one of the first computer controlled interactive robotic works of art.
